One Fabulous Day in New Orleans!

Our family’s Thanksgiving tradition is to go down to my hometown of Baton Rouge to visit my parents. All of my siblings, their spouses and kids also join my family and we all stay at my parent’s home.

This year we decided (or the flight prices decided for us) to stay an additional day in New Orleans with our teen kids. They had not been there in a while and it remains one of my favorite cities in the world.

Our stay began with checking into the absolutely stunning Ritz Carlton located on the edge of the French Quarter. The hotel was decorated for Christmas which added to the magic of this beautiful property. Because the booking was done through my agency, Tzell Travel, we were offered upgrades, access to the Club Lounge and complimentary breakfast (see below for details). The service from beginning to end was impeccable. The decor captured the elegance of the Ritz Carlton chain along with the nuance of the New Orleans style architecture.

After checking in, we walked for lunch at my favorite po-boy dive spot, Johnny’s Po-Boys then strolled through Jackson Square watching the artists paint and display their works. We were too full for beignets but paid tribute to Cafe du Monde by walking by and smelling them being freshly made to order.

It was time to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at King Fish. One of my favorite spots for crab claws and craft cocktails.

We finished our evening in the posh Club area at the Ritz Carlton watching football and sipping on complimentary wine. The Club area at the Ritz has complimentary coffees, snacks and concierge service. Kathy was amazing in keeping us happy!

Can’t wait to head back to New Orleans for a longer stay.

Laissez les bon temps rouler!
